GLASS WALL ILLUSION

confronted with prompted this Trompe L`Oeil mural. This illusion of looking through a glass window onto the bay below was created.

MURAL RESTORATION

Image

A much loved Trompe L`oeil garden wall mural painted over ten years ago had suffered badly in resent years from penertrating damp.
The flaking & pealing paint was removed from the face & rear of the wall to allow the brickwork to dry out. After sealing the back of the wall with a latex membrain paint the mural was able to be fully restored.
Now it looks like new & will be enjoyed for many more years to come.

A STIMULATING BRIEF

Image Biege coloured walls throughout this agedcare home did nothing to stimulate patients or staff. The brief was to create a colourful seaside mural that flowed from the main entrance door & lounge area down to the reception desk & dining area.Below are a number of images that
show the mural created for that brief.

A netball ring was fixed to a post painted on the wall, so fun was had by all attempting to shoot baskets.

The ultrasound said it was a girl hence the mermaid mural.

SUNKEN PIRATE GALLEON

Image This bedroom mural is the same as the one above & in the same house.
When the little girl who the mermaid mural was painted for had a new brother she moved to a bigger bedroom,so he could have hers.
I was asked to change the mural to suite a boys room but to keep the underwater theme. The sunken Galleon, pirate flag & treasure chest replaced the mermaid & cute fish.

JAPANESE KOI

Image A beautiful Koi fish is the logo for this Japanese restaurant. The corner wall of the building was the only choice
to locate this mural to a reasonable size. The owners were concerned about
blocking vision out & light coming in onto the table inside under the window.A digital printed perferated vinyl was used over the window area
witch solved the problem of light in & vision out.
The rest of the mural was painted directly onto the wall.

FENCE BANNER MURAL 1

Image A tropical theme was chosen for this mural, which was painted onto a vinyl
banner & fixed to the Colorbond fence. Painting the mural this way had the
advantage of working on a continuous smooth surface & a very light weight for the fence to cary.

FENCE BANNER MURAL 2

Image Colorbond fences in courtyards can give a boxed in feeling, especially around
outdoor entertaining areas. An effective way of overcoming this is with a mural
painted on a banner & stretched over the fence. In the Trompe l'oeil mural above & below I have incorporated plants, trees, shrubs & rocks from the existing garden to extend
the flow of the garden into the mural, which gives the feeling of depth & space.

Image

POOL BOTTOM MURAL

was used for this underwater mural.

KIDS LEARN TO SWIM CENTRE

Image The TADPOLES kids learn to swim centre had a boring blank wall at the end

paint this mural on a vinyl banner & fix it to the wall area.

RESTAURANT WALL MURAL

Image The Venetian wall mural opposite is a focal point that ads atmosphere & character to a busy Pizzaria Ristorante.

TROMPE L`OEIL MURAL

Image A new in ground pool with an adjoining pool house created a uninteresting blank wall that one was faced with when seated around the outdoor entertaining area.

The brief was to create an illusion of a clasical theme water feature, incorporating the trees & shrubs from the existing garden. This Trompe L`Oeil or ( trick the eye ) mural was the end result.

MURAL ART.....
has been around for centuries & dates back to early Egyptian times. We still use Murals today to tell a story, decorate the surroundings we live in or to create an illusion of space.

Trompe L`Oeil is a French term for this illusion of space which means to "Trick the eye".

Today, murals for various reasons are painted onto a variety of surfaces. Our Gallery opposite will give you some idea of those Artistic
challenges.
